BEK Dongtan
BEK Dongtan features an integrated learning environment specially designed to stimulate the learning and development of young children from Nursery (age 4) through to Year 4 (age 9) based on British Curricular standards, from the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) to the NCE (National Curriculum for England) for Years 1 to 4.
Our Early Years programme - for our youngest learners - is child-led and focuses on children learning through play and expressing their curiosity and opinions. They learn self-management skills and how to get along with others.
From Year 1 onwards, children are exposed to a variety of subjects through more in-depth inquiry classes suitable for their age group. Core subjects include Maths, Science, and English.
BEK Dongtan provides an inquiry-based learning approach where children’s ideas, interests, and theories inform the design of curricular experiences.
We encourage young children to explore their environment and express themselves using multiple ways of learning, starting with Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Reading, Maths, Understanding the World and Expressive Art and Design.
The children at BEK Dongtan are respected as competent thinkers and communicators who are offered many opportunities to engage with a wide range of materials and resources to extend and challenge their thinking. All classes have two homeroom teachers to support pastoral care and learning.
Our highly trained Dongtan staff provide a safe environment in which every child will enjoy their learning, become increasingly independent and, most importantly, develop the confidence to take responsibility for their own actions and decisions.
We look forward to working with you on your child’s educational journey.
